Tasting notes

Costa Caoude 2018
Magnificent nose marked by notes of cocoa, violet, blond tobacco, a touch of mint and the finesse of wood. The mouth is in tune with the nose, it deploys a beautifully slender, full-bodied and sapid substance, a great suppleness of tannin and a finish that seems endless, both profound and ethereal.

Costa Caoude 2017
Complex nose on morello cherry, almond, cocoa and violet, round mouth, with a lot of juiciness and a beautiful purity of texture, on an harmonious and continuous body. Floral finish, very delicate. Perhaps the wine with the most beautiful touch of mouth that the Mas Haut Buis has produced so far.

Costa Caoude 2016
Lot of fruit (black berries) on the nose, with a spicy note. Lot of fresh fruit on the palate as well, which gives a luscious but profound mouthfeel. Round tannins and a finish marked by a slightly toasty note and a fine hint of bitterness.

Costa Caoude 2015
Profound nose full of black cherry, with a smoky touch that remains very discreet, followed by a splendid texture on the palate, marked by complexity, a nice balance and a long, elegant finish.

Costa Caoude 2014
Great balance between the purity of the fruit aromas and a subtle toasted touch, harmonious and silky texture on the palate, with already delightful, supple tannins and an elegant finish, this is a fine and profound wine.

Costa Caoude 2012
The nose has deep fruit and floral aromas, with a touch of tea, and nice, discreet toasted notes. The mouth is incredibly velvety, with a well-balanced body, lively tanins and a delicate, fresh finish which gives magnificent drinkability to this wine.

Costa Caoude 2011
Black fruits, liquorice and light grilled notes on the nose, rounded on the palate with plush tannins and an elegant, tense finish.

Costa Caoude 2010
Aged only in foudre, the Costa Caoude 2010 shows intense and elegant black fruits and floral hints combined with liquorice. The mouthfeel is delicate with soft texture and sweet aromas of blackberries and blackcurrants. Stylish tannins and a lingering, fresh, finish give a sensual touch to this wine.

Costa Caoude 2009
Well defined fruit (red berries and cherry) on the nose, added with “garrigue aromas” and violet hints. Soft on the palate, nicely balanced, with well integrated tannins and cherry notes on the finish. This is a wine to keep in the cellar. It may also be drunk now, after decantating.

Costa Caoude 2007
The Costa Caoude 2007 can be enjoyed from now on for its deep and vibrant fruit. But it also has a strong ageing potential. Structured, with a fine acidity and a velvety palate, it is a very harmonious wine.

Costa Caoude 2005
Red and black berries aromas intermixed with toasty notes dominate the nose. The mouth is more delicate than powerful with a fresh structure and firm tannins that will soften with time. This promising wine still needs a little bottle age.

Costa Caoude 2004
The Costa Caoude 2004 is expressive and balanced, structured by firm tannins. It still needs some time to fully integrate its oak and for its tannins to smoothen.

Costa Caoude 2003
The nose offers a bouquet of ripe fruits and spices while the mouthfeel is soft with round tannins and a slightly warm finish, which is reminiscent of the hot-weather 2003 vintage.

Costa Caoude 2002
Very complex nose with cherry, almond, prune, fig, thyme and pepper aromas. Fleshy and supple on the palate, with polished tannins and lingering freshness on the finish. This wine drinks very well now but it will last for longer.

Costa Caoude 2001
Flavors of black stone fruits (cherry, prune) and spices along with an elegant touch of wood are a prelude to a silky and fresh palate, and smooth tannins. A hint of kirsch and peppery aromas accompany the lingering, harmonious, finish. One of the greatest wines produced by the Mas Haut Buis, the Costa Caoude 2001 is perfect to drink now and over the next few years.

Costa Caoude 2000
The nose shows aromas of cherry, raspberry liqueur, pepper and leather added by light toasty notes. Sophisticated mouthfeel, with the aromas of the nose, mature tannins and a spicy finish. A harmonious wine that has now reached its apogee.
